Fresh and Fine

Each day begins with a new morning
And each morning begins with a new freshness.

Each day the Sun rises with a fresh bouquet of beams

And each beam shines forth with a fresh glow.

The air is cool with fresh breezes,

The birds warble and emit sweet, fresh notes;

The jungles, mountains and the rivers ----

All wear a fresh look!

Why, O why should you be stale and staid While freshness surrounds you ?
Shake off the shackles of the dead past
Just as trees cast away dried leaves in autumn.

Bury the past pains in deep oblivion, for ever and for ever

As they are lifeless and mere shadows
Hovering in the mind like frightful ghosts.
Be fresh and bask in the bright sunshine.

Lie no more in the dingy tomb of old memories
Where darkness reigns and foul odours of stench chokes

And dreary and deadening figures haunt
And depress you for no reason and rhyme.

Awake, arise and stop not
Till you can enjoy the life-giving breath and beauty

Of the fresh Dawn, here and now,
Ever so cheery and ever so new.

O, let the teeth be out and hair go grey
And, let life slip into the abyss of Death, whenever it may,

And form part of Eternity with all its light;
Ever so fresh and ever so bright.
